It's Wednesday today which means it's Animal of the Week! Each week an animal will be chosen and a little information , care tips and facts will be included in the post.
Ferret!
Ferrets are beautiful creatures, they may be underestimated because people might think that they bite, they can, in fact all animals can bite and as always you can train your ferret to not bite. When they are trained not to bite they can and will still nip, my ferret only nips when she is happy and when she licks people (lick, lick, bite!) Another thing people have heard about ferrets is that they smell. I agree but I find the smell rather pleasant. They can get kind of a musky smell that people don't like but as always you can get them de-sexed and wash them once a month maximum. I say only once a month because they have natural oils on their skin which gives them their musky scent, actual after a wash, the oils give them a stronger scent because when washed, the oils come off and them in the next few days when the oil is coming back the ferret will smell stronger.
Ferrets don't really have a specific breed but they do come in many colours like sable, albino, cinnamon, panda, blaze and black eyed white. Something you have to know when owning ferrets is that they can't stand temperatures in the high twenties so be careful if you like somewhere with warm climates like Australia (where I live) I usually just stick in a frozen bottle of water into Lilly's 'sleeping compartment' and give her fresh water once a day.
Now to the fun facts!
#1- ferrets can live up to 10 years!
#2- baby ferrets are called kits <3
#3- ferrets sleep up to 15 hours a day!
#4- a group of ferrets is called a business
#5- The male ferret is called a hob and the female ferret is called a jill.
I hope you enjoyed the first post of the 'scheduled' week and don't forget tomorrow my short story is coming out! Please check out my plan for the future weeks (previous post) and you are more then welcome to stay. Please comment what you want to see next whether it's another TAG, challenge or the next animal I should do for Animal of the Week!
Stay Fluffy :)
