The week
after Storm’s death went by slowly and painfully. Every night since the day,
Jinny had being crying herself to sleep. Storm was her first horse and after
six long years of gaining each other’s trust, their bond was unbreakable, they
didn’t start off very well together when Jinny first rescued her, even though
her parents kept on saying to sell her on, Jinny always knew that there was a
second chance in every horse, despite the countless times Storm had hurt Jinny,
she wouldn’t give up. Jinny had nightmares and often found herself waking up to
the slightest nicker that sounded like Storms and that soon became her obsession.
Every day, from her peripheral vision she would see dark shadows, she would
hear Storm’s neighing and nickering and worst of all she kept on hearing Storm’s
quick and shallow breaths when she was lying in the stable and picturing her
last moments- her chest going up and down with every breath until she was gone.
It had being a month since Storm had died and she hadn’t
ridden since, she wasn’t planning to any time soon, at least not onto her
favourite trail. That would always
remain a sacred place to Storm and her. The only exercise Luna and Pondie got
was being lunged, as always she would rely on her horses to comfort her but she
just couldn’t hug another horse without thinking of Storm. It had being her
fault for riding there that morning. It had being her fault for not letting
Storm rest while she called her parents for help. She was blaming everything on
herself. School for Jinny hadn’t being going too well either. She found it
harder to concentrate.
That morning marked exactly one month since Storm died and
Jinny made her way up to Storms paddock, where she had been buried. She sat
cross-legged on the cold, wet grass. She had come to her paddock at 6:00 AM,
the same time she left for the ride. 5 minutes passed, then 10 and before Jinny
knew it, she had being daydreaming for half an hour. It was around at 6:45 that
Storm would get bitten by the snake. “I’m sorry Stormy, I hope your happy now”
The sun was now fully up and it was drying up the wet grass. Jinny inhaled
deeply as tears started to pour down her face. “Let’s say” she paused as she
bit her lip to not cry hysterically. “Let’s say that every morning, at 6ish we
will be with each other, like we were last month” Jinny looked up at the sky,
her eyes rimmed with tears, clouds were beginning to form. Suddenly she felt
peace and didn’t feel like crying anymore. She felt a presence behind her and
as if someone got into her mind and told her to get up, and she did, she went
to see Pondie and Luna. When Jinny brought over Pondie’s tack, he looked at her
as if he didn’t know what she was carrying, it was some time Jinny hadn’t
ridden him. When she opened his stall, she rubbed his beautiful head and tied
him up. All tacked up she mounted. “I should be saying sorry to you guys now, I
haven’t ridden you in so long!”
Sorry this part didn't come out last week but I was SUPER busy (lol)
Stay fluffy
